How to Quickly Create a Hyper-V Virtual Machine

Hyper-V is an embedded Hypervisor in Windows 10 that we can use to create virtual machines. Although, we can only use Hyper-V in the Pro, Enterprise, or Education version of Windows 10. Hyper-V is not available for Windows 10 Home version users. Hypervisors such as VMware and Hyper-V can be used to emulate and test different operating systems in your PC. Especially, they are useful to play around with and test out harmful software that can cause harm to your pc. Creating a virtual machine is usually very simple. However, you can utilize the quick create option in Hyper-V to speed up this process and quickly create a Hyper V Virtual machine.

Virtual machines use your hardware resources to work. So, first, make sure that you have the minimum requirements or good enough hardware to run a virtual machine smoothly.

Quickly Create a Hyper-V Virtual Machine

To quickly create a Hyper-V Virtual Machine follow these steps.

The first thing to do is to Enable Hyper V in Windows 10. So, click your start menu or search button on the bottom left corner of your screen. Now type “Turn windows features on or off” and open the Windows Features settings.

Now scroll down and find and enable Hyper-V and click OK. Please note that if you cannot see this option please check if you are running a pro or enterprise version of Windows 10 by typing “winver” in the search bar.to find out your Windows version.

After you enable Hyper-V you will be prompted to restart your computer. So, restart your computer to can use Hyper-V. After restarting your computer click on the start menu or search button again and type Hyper V quick create.

Now you will see five options for Different OS that you can quickly set up. Either choose one of them or select an external source. You can also click on more options to rename your Virtual Machine and you can also choose the network switch you want to use.

After selecting your preferences click on create Virtual machine. Hyper-V will create a virtual machine according to your system specifications. You can always manage and edit your virtual machine from the Hyper-V manager. It’s better to create a separate virtual switch with the Hyper-V manager before creating a quick virtual machine.

After your Virtual Machine is created just click on start to start your VM. Although, creating a quick VM is easy and fast we would still recommend a manual VM with Hyper-V manager because you can set all the VM specifications according to your requirements and hardware.
