YouTube started testing a new feature for its premium subscription holders. Still, it wasn’t such a new feature, although YouTube has picked a feature already available for Free.
But don’t worry about it because YouTube has declared that they have already shut down this experiment entirely, which might be because of the backlash they encountered. Let’s continue the discussion below.
Did Backlash Forced YouTube to Drop Limiting 4K Videos?
We have previously published an article that mentioned YouTube is experimenting with letting 4K video quality for paid subscription holders only.
In a YouTube Q&A game, someone’s tweet asked YouTube, what if you don’t force your premium sub to watch 4k content? And it said they have completely turned off 4K videos limiting experiments. So that every viewer can now see supported videos in 4K quality resolution, whether they are subscription holders or not.
Now there might be a question in your mind why YouTube has shut down this experiment. So its answer is straightforward when YouTube started this experiment, many users were affected.
And users who noted this change are using YouTube from all major devices, such as mobile, Desktops, and smart TVs. And it became a significant problem for viewers who have a large screen and don’t compromise the video quality.
They all slammed YouTube on Reddit and Twitter for planning to determine 4K videos behind the paywall, which might be why YouTube shut this experiment. But this is not a surety from YouTube that they won’t test it in the future; maybe they will.
Besides, Google-owned YouTube has also conducted experiments on advertisements. Whose impact is indicating that in the future, we will witness five short ads at the beginning of the video.
