Access Router Connected USB with FTP
Share your USB Drive Data with all Users connected to Network. Most of the routers have at least one USB port to share data with the connected user of wifi network. A window user can easily share its Flash/USB drive data to the connected users by adding an FTP location. If you want to share data of the connected USB/Flash drive across the network then follow the following steps.
Firstly, make sure that your router USB port is working properly and also check the USB connection to the router is connected accurately. Then go to the browser and type the router IP address and press enter button.
Type the username and the password of the router to access the setting of the router and press the login button.
Click on the Advanced Setup (it can be different in your router configuration) and select the Storage service to ensure that your USB drive is properly detected. If your Flash drive is working properly then you can see the USB (Volume name, File system, Total space, and consumed space).
Open the Start menu and type RUN and press the enter button. Type the IP address of the router with the FTP protocol and press OK.
Then your default browser will open with an authentication box. Enter your Username and Password. It will give you access to the USB drive data. Now you can also add USB connected to your router as an FTP location. Open the File explore and add the FTP network location by clicking on the Add network location.
This will open the network location configuration wizard. Click Next to continue.
In this section, you will choose the location where you want to create a network location. Select the location and press the Next button.
Type the address of the network path and press the Next button. In my case its router’s IP address.
Uncheck the Log on anonymous option then type the username of the router and click the Next button.
Enter the name of network location. It can be anything, in my case I let it as IP address.
Now you have successfully added the network location. Click on the Finish to finish the configuration wizard.
Once done, you can now add, remove, update, modify the data as per your needs. You can also place multimedia content like movies and software backups to be shared with your family members accessing the network.
