Microsoft rolled out the new Windows Tamper Protection feature for Windows 10 Antivirus last year. This feature was added to Windows 10 in the last year’s May 2019 update version 1903. This added an extra layer of security to the Windows Antivirus. When enabled it can prevent other programs/modifications to tamper with Windows Security features.
What this means that any application will not be able to tamper with Windows security features. Modifying Windows command lines tools through PowerShell, Group Policies, Registry changes or Malware can also tamper with the security features of Windows. So, this feature- prevents these changes to tamper with the security features.
However, Windows Tamper Protection can only be disabled or enabled if you are an administrator on the system. Although, organizations might need access to the software that manages this option such as InTune. Tamper Protection and Cloud-delivered protection is automatically enabled in the latest version of Windows. Normally updating your Windows to the version that has this feature will automatically enable it.
However, this feature might be disabled on your device for some reason. This article shows how to enable or disable this feature.
Follow these simple steps to enable Tamper Protection.

- Prevents Programs to Delete Security Intelligence updates.
- Disable Anti-malware Protection.
- Disable Cloud-Delivered protection.
- Turning off Behaviour monitoring.
In the past, we had to use separate software to protect our system from threats. However, the Windows Defender is now a trustworthy entity.
