Microsoft Aims for an AI-Powered Version of Bing

In a blog post last year, Microsoft said it prepared to integrate image-generation software from OpenAI into Bing.

Microsoft Corp is in the results to cast a version of its search engine Bing, utilizing the artificial intelligence behind OpenAI-launched chatbot ChatGPT, The Information noted on Tuesday, quoting two people with explicit knowledge of the plans.

The company could cast the new feature before the end of March and expects to challenge Alphabet-owned search engine Google, the information from the San Francisco-based technology news website said.

In a blog post last year, Microsoft said it intended to integrate image-generation software from OpenAI, DALL-E 2, into Bing.

OpenAI refused to comment, while Microsoft did not directly respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

Microsoft supported the San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company OpenAI with $1 billion in funding in 2019. The two had developed a multi-year partnership to create artificial intelligence supercomputing technologies on Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service.

OpenAI made its design ChatGPT chatbot available for free public testing on Nov. 30. The chatbot is a software application developed to mimic human-like conversation based on user prompts. And can react to an extensive range of queries while mimicking human speaking styles.
