Microsoft Edge browser has also entered the race to stop support for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1, as some developers are declining support for it.
Windows 7, 8/8.1 Users Will Not Get Further Updates For Microsoft Edge
Microsoft has made this statement via an official report, stating that the Edge browser’s version 110 will not come in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1.
This suggests Edge version 109 and Webview2 Runtime version 109 will be the final, coming on January 12th, 2023. Also, this support reduction doesn’t make it quit working on these operating systems.
Edge 109 will be their final version, it will persist on systems with these Windows, but they will not gain any new features, security updates, and fixes for bugs.
Similarly, Google announced it will decline Chrome browser’s support in Windows 7 and 8/8.1 from January 2023.
Microsoft Edge & Google Chrome Alternative For Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 Users
As only a few browsers can be trusted, most of them are chromium-based. This suggests they will also have to drop their browser support with Chrome for Windows 7 and 8/8.1.
Such as Opera and Mozilla Firefox have also reported an ending of support which left rarer choices. The Brave browser will be a suitable option, as they didn’t announce to end of support yet.
