WhatsApp Desktop Will Soon Get Password Protected Feature

WhatsApp’s desktop version might soon bring a new security feature that lets users protect it with a password.

Meta’s owned WhatsApp already has various features in the iOS and Android versions. And users are also entitled to use any third-party screen locker. But there is no straightforward way to count a screen lock on the PC version.

WhatsApp Bringing Screen Lock To WhatsApp Desktop

WABetaInfo reported this unique feature when they tried the most delinquent beta version of WhatsApp Desktop and noted all these facts in a report, so let’s discuss it.

This unique feature is known as the screen lock feature, and with it, desktop users can specify a password to access the app. And its input will emerge on the opening screen, which you can notice in the above image.

Also, this image is just a picture of how this UI will look; in the last version, it will be different.

The company released this feature 3 years ago for the smartphone app. That also functions with fingerprint if it is present there, and in iPhones, it operates with Face ID.

And as Macs have Touch ID, this feature will also include unlocking with a fingerprint sensor.

Besides, if you forget your password, you can get back by logging out of the account and logging in back with the QR code.

Meta-owned WhatsApp has also described that their password or any other will not be reserved in the company’s server, which indicates it will be an encrypted password.

This feature is currently in beta testing, and then it will catch up to the feedback phase. And in some months, it will be rolled out for all the users with a stable update.
