Apple Inc is designing software to enable users of its upcoming mixed-reality (MR) headset to build their own augmented reality apps, the Information reported on Friday, quoting four people who worked on the headset.
According to a Bloomberg News report, Apple Inc was in talks with about half a dozen media associates, including Walt Disney Co, to create virtual reality content for its MR headset.
The iPhone maker did not instantly answer a Reuters request for comment.
Mixed reality is one of three kinds of comprehensive reality technologies frequently associate with the metaverse. An MR headset could authorize the wearer to use a real-world object to initiate a virtual-world reaction.
According to a Bloomberg report, the iPhone maker’s MR headset is all set to launch in this year’s spring event. And it will cost around $3,000.
That would be double as much as Meta Platforms Inc’s Quest Pro virtual and mixed reality headset. Which was announce late last year for $1,500.
