    WhatsApp is famous for supporting end-to-end encryption. This kind of encryption means that any third party cannot view or preclude conversations between the sender and receiver, which makes for a more secure chatting environment on the Meta-owned platform.

    The passion for such privacy standards has continued growing, and most acceptable Android phones already have many security features. Without this feature, a significant gap will stay in your privacy protection.

    WhatsApp is now rolling end-to-end encryption for cloud backups in 2021, but the feature is not active by default. If you like to make your WhatsApp backups on Google Drive safer, wait a while and ensure they’re encrypted. Let’s get into the details below;

    Enable end-to-end encryption for WhatsApp Google Drive backups

    Before moving with the steps below, ensure you’ve updated the most delinquent WhatsApp version from Google Play.

    1. Launch WhatsApp on your Android smartphone.
    2. Click the three-dots section and navigate to Settings > Chats > Chat backup.
    3. Click End-to-end encrypted backup, then click Turn on.
    4. Create a password or 64-digit key that will be employed to encrypt your WhatsApp backups.
    5. Click Create and wait for WhatsApp to form an encrypted backup. Depending on your backup sets, Google Drive will upload this backup. You may require to charge your phone to activate the cloud backup process.

    You can track the same steps to turn off the encrypt your WhatsApp Backups on Google Drive for your WhatsApp chats, though you’ll first need to enter the password or encryption key for confirmation purposes.
