Nvidia Announced To “Un launch” RTX 4080 12GB Graphics Card

Today, Nvidia reported the unlaunch of its 12 GB version of the GeForce RTX 4080 GPU 3 weeks after its launch, and its explanation seems fine.

Besides, the company has also faced objections from the PC community for confusing the upcoming graphic card’s two variants. Let’s continue the discussion below:

Nvidia Announced To “Un launch” RTX 4080 12GB Graphics Card

Nvidia Is Only Launching RTX 4080 With 16GB

In September, Nvidia presented the new GeForce RTX 40-series with two major GPUs: Geforce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080; it was less significant that the company declared two variants for the RTX 4080 GPU.

One features 16GB RAM, and the other, 12GB RAM, is considered less potent. The 16GB RAM has 2,048 more CUDA cores than the 12GB RAM variant.

But not having discrepancies in their names generated a lot of confusion for the customers. Nvidia has also commented in their report that “RTX 4080 12GB is a wonderful graphics card, but it’s not named right.”

Similarly, some people also blame its pricing, as last year’s initial price was $699. But this year’s GPU is split into two variants, so we get a price bump in the impact.

Due to all these explanations, Nvidia has said that “we’re holding the decision to launch the 4080 12GB. And its market availability date is November, so no one purchased them.

This means RTX 4080 now only be available in one variant, which includes 16GB with 9,728 CUDA cores. And it is priced at $1199, and there are no changes in its availability as it will be open to buying from November 16.

In the same report, Nvidia has shared photos of many waiting lines full of people outside the stores to purchase the RTX 4090. And the company desires the same for the RTX 4080.

However, Nvidia could also launch these 12GB RTX 4080 with a new name and ideal rebranding in the future.
