How to Zip and Unzip Files on Windows 10 Operating System

You probably heard the term “zip” many times before. It is one of the most popular file formats that allow you to compress the files to save space on your hard drive or to make it easier to send them over the internet.
The zip file reduces the size of the files by compressing them, saving disk space, and reducing network transfer times. Now-a-day a lot of third-party software is commonly used to compress files, but if you are using Windows 10 you don’t have to download any third-party software to do this task. In this guide, I will show you how you can zip and unzip any file if you are using Windows 10 Operating System.

How to zip files

First of all, select all the items that you want to zip. Then right-click on it and click on the Send button. Click again on the Compressed(Zipped) folder.

Then a new folder appears on the desktop. Give the name to the zipped folder and press the enter button.

Extract Files from Compressed Folder

If your compressed folder contains many files, it is often easiest to extract them simultaneously into a new folder. If you want to extract the files from the compressed folder then follow the below steps.
Right-click on the compressed folder and choose the Extract All…. option.
Click on Extract Files

A new window is opened which tells you to select a destination of extract files, select the destination and click on the Extract button.
Click on Extract
