In today’s world, many feel the risk of invading one’s privacy and no one feels comfortable with important emails, contacts, and emails hacked or lost. As a professional, it becomes even more important not to lose one’s data, however, Google ensures us privacy safety, but one can’t be too carefree in this regard. Occasionally, we hear someone hacked a big company and stole their data and in this regard, Google is not far behind. In 2018 there was a major data breach as over five million user’s data were compromised. In this context, the protection of data becomes of utmost importance.
How to Back up Your Gmail to a Local Mailbox
There are many ways to back up Gmail data to the local mailbox like Evernote and Mozilla thunderbird etc. But I find “Google takeout” the best possible option, instead of backing up the data to the third-party software, exporting the data to a personal disk drive suits me the best. To do that, first, head to the Google Takeout website and sign in with your Google account. Then select what you want to download. By default, all the data associated with your Google account is selected, but you can select data randomly. Once you selected the data you want to download, then click the “Next Step” button.
Next, select “File type & size” and click on “Create export”.
Your data is now exported to a personal disk. You can safely store all the emails and contacts, logs and access them whenever needed.
That’s all.
