Windows Updates exist to help make it easy to keep Windows up to date with the latest services packs, patches and other updates. Early versions of Windows 10 did not offer any control over Windows updates. Microsoft has added a few options and settings to control Windows updates in recent versions after hearing users’ feedback. There are several options for Windows Updates that you can configure.
In this article, I will show you how to change the default behavior of Updates in Windows 10.
Pause Feature and quality updates
First of all, Open the Setting app from Start manu.
Look for the Updates and Security and click on it to open the Windows Updates page.
Click on the Advanced option to open the Advanced options page. Scroll down the page to see the Pause Updates. Pause the Updates up to 35 days. Note that you can’t pause updates again after 35 days without your computer.
Select the number of days until which you want to defer the feature updates. Quality updates can be postponed for a maximum of 30 days.
Limit Windows Updates bandwidth
Go to the Settings>Updates and Security>Delivery Optimization page. Choose the Advanced options.
In the Download, the Setting section selects both Limits how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates in the background and Limits how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates in the foreground options.
You do not need to change or configure the Upload settings unless you have not turned on Allow downloads from other PCs option present on the Go to Settings > Update & Security > Delivery Optimization page.
