Dates and times are two of the most common data types people work within Excel. Excel uses the serial number to represent the data instead of a proper month, day, or year. Excel store times using the exact same serial numbering formats as with dates. Serial numbers are not all that intuitive to use. Fortunately, Excel has a set of functions to make it easier to find and use dates and times, starting with dates and times. Almost all the Bussines use databases and spreadsheets to calculate dates and times for payroll, expenses, inventory, sales reports, and more. Excel provides serial numbers for all of the Dates and Times formats, from months down to individual seconds. See for yourself by following the below steps
First of all, select the cell where you want to apply the Date and Time formula.
    Select the Cell

Go to Formulas tab, click on the Date & Time then select the Now option from the drop-down menu.
    Select the Now

Click on the OK button on the pop-up window.
    Click OK

Convert Text dates to actual dates
When dates are copied or imported into Excel as text fields, the system automatically reads them as text. Importing dates are a better option but, even imported dates come in as text. When this happens, use the DATEVALUE function to convert the text dates to Excel serial number.
Select the cell B1 then go to the Formulas tab and select the DATEVALUE from the drop-down menu of the Date & Time option.
Select the Cell and press the DATEVALUE

When you click on the DATEVALUE a new window is opened. Click on the cell from which you want to take the value and press the OK button.
    Click OK
