Qualcomm has also entered the race to get smartphone satellite features as they have reported the Snapdragon Satellite at CES 2023 event, which will allow more features than expected.

The company is casting its satellite, concentrating on delivering satellite-aid features to Android phone users. Let’s discuss all attributes below.

    Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Satellite: All Details

As we all understand, Apple was the first to present Emergency SOS via satellite. It made it available earlier for users with iPhone 14’s any model in all supported areas.

And later in the year, we will witness the same satellite feature in premium Android smartphones powered by Snapdragon’s next-generation chip.

Also, it will be more easygoing and will let you do more than other’s features. For instance, with Apple’s feature, you can message emergency services when a cellular network is inaccessible.

But Qualcomm’s upcoming feature is more suitable to be famous for a two-way satellite messaging service. This means it will let messaging for emergencies or any other in regions where a cellular network is unavailable.

And the announcement company has also officially noted that ‘it won’t be just for emergencies and will protect more regions.

Besides, Samsung is also in talks of getting the Emergency SOS through satellite in upcoming Samsung phones. Even leak statements say we would witness it in Samsung Galaxy S23, launching in Q1 this year.

As I already said, this feature will only be available in devices with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and it is all set to launch in the second half of 2023.

The company partnered with Iridium for the Snapdragon Satellite, and Iridium works around 66 satellites, so their industry authority is recognized.

Besides, the company will extend this feature to devices such as laptops, tablets, cars, and other IoT products.
