Microsoft Tests 4 Days Work Week – What You Can Do In Your Organization?

Nowadays, there is a discussion going on about Microsoft test to make workweek of four days. That’s a good imitative. So, the question arises, can we adopt this model in our organization. Is this workable.  Will we be able to manage the challenges we have? Will business continue to grow? Will this improve the quality of life of employees? How will this impact the overall community? These are a few of the questions that you will start thinking immediately.

FEW POINTS TO CONSIDER

Well, making a workweek of four days or of 32 hours there should be some calculation system in place. The 1st thing is you should have a strong matrix to calculate the workload vs employee productivity. Avg cost per employee may include (electricity consumption, facilities cost, transportation cost, refreshment cost, and many others). If you don’t have this information available with you initially, you can not make a move.

The second factor that needs consideration is your departments in the organization. There are many critical departments in every organization like sales, customer support, operations support, and many others. These should be considered while making a move. Even working 4 days a week, no one will still love to work on Saturday or Sunday.

WHAT YOU CAN DO?

What else can be done? So, what you can do is to give your employees a relaxation during business hours. That can be given access to social media channels, having access to physical and/or online gaming, activities to keep them engage, pay them to market competitive salaries, hire resources or adopt tools that can help them join and leave office on time. Any exceptional allowances like childcare allowance, medical allowance, child fee, and many others can help you to achieve your employees a work-life balance and make them a productive and true asset for the company.
