Webcams usually come embedded in most of the laptops nowadays. However, if you are using a Desktop computer you will have to buy an external webcam. Getting a good quality webcam might be expensive however, you can use your Mobile phone camera as a webcam. It is especially beneficial for you if your builtin webcam is either low quality or you don’t have a webcam. Maybe you are a gamer and just started your streaming career you will require a good enough webcam. If your phone has a good camera you can your Android Phone Camera as a webcam for your PC.
If you can’t afford a good enough webcam for now you can easily use your Android or IOS phone as a webcam. In this article, I will only show you how to use your Andriod Phone’s camera as a webcam for your PC.
Use Android Phone Camera as Webcam.
To use your Android Phone you have to install the Droid Cam app and client on your phone and pc.
Note: DroidCam will only work as a wireless camera if you are connected to the same network on both your phone and Windows PC. Even a wifi extender or an addon router for your Internet will not let you use your mobile as a webcam. First, make sure you are connected to the same router via LAN cable or wifi.
To set your mobile phone as a camera first open the Google Play Store and search DroidCam. Install the DroidCam App on your Phone
Now open https://www.dev47apps.com/droidcam/windows/ and download the DroidCam Windows client.
First, open your Droid Cam App from your Mobile and Allow it access to take pictures and record videos, etc. Also, Allow it to use the audio. This app will automatically ask you both of these things.
Now you will be able to see the Wifi IP and Droid cam port on the app. Please leave the app on to allow it to connect to your PC.
Open the DroidCam Client on your PC and add the IP mentioned on your phone app in the Device IP Box and also add the port if required.
You will now be able to access your phone camera from your PC and use it as a webcam. However, if you are using more webcams in your pc you will have to select the droid cam in any app before using.
Please note that the IP On the mobile can change when you reconnect to WIFI. So always check the IP on the App and add it to the PC client. Also please keep both the app and pc client on to stay connected.
You can click on Stop in the PC client to stop using the mobile webcam.
To restart the cam open the app again on your phone if it is not open and again open the PC App and click on DroidCam top and click start. You can also click on the white blank screen to start the app.
Both the PC and Android App will show you the preview of your camera.
